Leuze Sensor DMU430B-3000.X3/LTV-M12 Ultrasonic distance sensor

A robust M30-threaded ultrasonic sensor with a 3000 mm (3-meter) sensing range. It is a “high-end” model featuring a hybrid 0–10 V analog voltage output and a switching output, along with IO-Link integration for smart diagnostics and remote configuration.

Description

The DMU430B-3000.X3/LTV-M12 is engineered for demanding industrial environments where long-distance, non-contact measurement is required. The “X3” designation indicates a standard straight-beam configuration, while the “LTV” suffix identifies its multi-functional output capabilities. It provides a linear 0–10 V signal proportional to the distance, but it can also be configured to provide a digital switching signal via its IO-Link interface.

Using advanced Time-of-Flight (ToF) logic, this sensor is particularly effective at measuring large targets, bulk material levels, or large vehicle positions. Because it uses sound, it is unaffected by dust, steam, or the optical transparency of the target—making it far more reliable than laser sensors in harsh factory or outdoor-adjacent conditions.

Features

  • Extended 3-Meter Range: Ideal for large-scale applications like silo level monitoring or large-vehicle positioning.
  • M30 Housing Power: The larger diameter allows for a wider transducer face, which results in a more stable acoustic beam over long distances.
  • LTV Hybrid Output: Features a 0–10 V analog output for continuous tracking and a switching output for limit detection.
  • IO-Link 1.1 Integrated: Provides access to “Smart Sensor” features, including digital distance value transmission, temperature data, and remote parameter cloning.
  • Precision Teach-In: Can be calibrated via a physical teach-in input or through the IO-Link interface to define specific measurement “windows.”
  • Advanced Temperature Compensation: Since the speed of sound varies with air temperature, this sensor uses an internal probe to real-time-correct its measurements, maintaining high accuracy across its full 3000 mm span.

Applications

  • Bulk Material Level: Monitoring the height of grain, plastic pellets, or gravel in large hoppers or small silos.
  • Large Tank Monitoring: Continuous level measurement of liquids (water, oils, chemicals) in industrial storage tanks.
  • Vehicle & AGV Positioning: Providing long-distance obstacle detection or docking feedback for large automated guided vehicles.
  • Pallet & Coil Diameter: Measuring the size of large paper rolls, steel coils, or stacked pallets in logistics centers.
  • Collision Avoidance: Acting as a safety distance monitor for overhead cranes or large robotic arms.
