Leuze Sensor DMU420B-250.3/LC-M8 Ultrasonic distance sensor

A miniature M12-threaded ultrasonic sensor with a 250 mm sensing range and a standard M8 connector. It provides a reliable Push-Pull switching output to signal when an object has entered a specific sensing window.

Description

The “DMU” series uses high-frequency sound waves to detect targets, making it completely independent of the object’s color, transparency, or surface gloss. The LC (Low Cost) designation indicates a streamlined design optimized for high-volume applications where a simple “object present” or “object absent” signal is required, but precision cannot be compromised.

Features

  • Material Independent: Reliably detects clear glass, liquids, dark plastics, and multi-colored surfaces that often “blind” optical sensors.
  • Push-Pull Output: A versatile “universal” output that can operate as either PNP or NPN, simplifying wiring and reducing the need to stock multiple sensor types.
  • Ultra-Compact M12 Housing: The small diameter allows for installation in very tight mechanical assemblies or dense sensor arrays.
  • High-Visibility LEDs: Typically features integrated LEDs to indicate power status (Green) and switching state (Yellow).
  • IP67 Protection: Fully sealed agains

Applications

  • Small Bottle Counting: Detecting transparent vials or glass containers on high-speed conveyor belts.
  • Level Limit Sensing: Acting as a “High” or “Low” level alarm for liquids or small parts in miniature hoppers.
  • Precision Presence Detection: Identifying the arrival of tiny components in automated assembly jigs.
  • Edge Detection: Monitoring the position of a web or material edge in narrow-width processing machinery.
  • Close-Range Obstacle Avoidance: Used in small robotic grippers or axes to prevent collisions during fine movements.
