Leuze Sensor DMU330-3500.3/4CK-M12 Ultrasonic distance sensor

A high-power M30-threaded ultrasonic sensor with a 3500 mm (3.5-meter) sensing range and a standard M12 connector. The “4CK” designation indicates a switching (digital) output specifically a universal Push-Pull configuration integrated with IO-Link for advanced smart-factory diagnostics.

Description

The DMU330 series utilizes Time-of-Flight (ToF) technology to measure the distance to a target regardless of its color, transparency, or surface gloss. Because it relies on sound rather than light, it is a superior choice over laser sensors for sensing liquids, clear plastics, or highly reflective surfaces. The inclusion of IO-Link allows for remote parameter setting and real-time distance value transmission.

Features

  • Medium-Long Reach: A 3.5-meter range allows the sensor to be mounted safely away from moving machinery or hazardous zones.
  • IO-Link 1.1 Integrated: Enables “Smart Sensor” capabilities, including remote teaching, distance value streaming via process data, and diagnostic alerts.
  • Push-Pull Switching Output: A universal output that can act as PNP or NPN, making it compatible with almost any PLC architecture.
  • Material Independent: Reliably detects “difficult” targets like wastewater, clear plastic films, glass, and multi-colored surfaces.
  • Internal Temperature Compensation: Automatically adjusts for variations in the speed of sound caused by air temperature fluctuations, ensuring consistent accuracy.

Applications

  • IBC & Tote Level Monitoring: Providing “full” or “empty” signals for intermediate bulk containers.
  • Pallet Height & Presence: Detecting the arrival of pallets on wide conveyors or in automated storage systems.
  • Roll Diameter Monitoring: Sensing the size of large supply rolls (steel, paper, or textiles) to trigger material change-overs.
  • Collision Avoidance: Providing slow-down or stop signals for AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles) or mobile robot platforms.
  • Wastewater Management: Monitoring fluid levels in sumps or open channels without contacting corrosive media.
