Leuze Sensor DMU218-1500/LA-M12 Ultrasonic distance sensor

An M18-threaded ultrasonic sensor with a 1500 mm (1.5-meter) sensing range and a standard M12 connector. It provides a continuous 4–20 mA analog current output, allowing for stable, real-time distance monitoring over long distances

Description

The DMU218 series uses Time-of-Flight (ToF) technology, measuring the distance to a target regardless of its color, transparency, or surface texture. The LA designation indicates a Linear Analog (Current) output. A 4–20 mA signal is the global industrial standard for reliability because it is highly resistant to electromagnetic interference (EMI) and eliminates the “voltage drop” errors that occur when using long cables.

Features

  • Industry-Standard M18 Housing: The M18 diameter allows for easy integration using widely available mounting brackets and existing machine apertures.
  • 4–20 mA Analog Output: Provides a stable, noise-immune signal that scales linearly with the measured distance.
  • Material Independent: Reliably detects “difficult” targets like liquids, clear plastic films, glass, and highly reflective metal components.
  • Internal Temperature Compensation: Automatically adjusts for changes in the speed of sound caused by air temperature fluctuations, ensuring consistent accuracy over the 1.5-meter span.
  • IP67 Protection: Fully sealed against dust and water ingress, suitable for high-speed industrial lines or washdown areas.
