Description
In standard LiSOCl2 battery applications, a phenomenon known as transient minimum voltage level occurs where the voltage drops temporarily when a load is first subjected to the cell before returning to its nominal value. The Tadiran TRR Series Rapid Response Lithium Battery is specifically designed to virtually eliminate this initial voltage drop. This “rapid response” capability ensures consistent performance even after long periods of dormancy.
A primary competitive advantage of the TRR Series is its ability to support pulse currents without the bulk and cost of additional components. Traditional solutions often require a Hybrid Layer Capacitor (HLC) to mitigate voltage delay. The TRR Series removes this requirement or significantly reduces the number of HLCs needed. This allows for the development of compact power supply solutions that require fewer or smaller batteries, optimizing the overall footprint of the device.
Furthermore, these cells are built for extreme longevity. They feature a low annual self-discharge rate that supports a 20+ year operating life. The chemistry is optimized to use available capacity more efficiently, particularly in challenging environments ranging from extremely hot to freezing cold temperatures. This efficiency can extend the battery operating life by up to 15% compared to standard cells, reducing lifecycle costs for remote assets.
