Parker JD 100 Diaphragm Level Switch: Effortless Control

Parker JD-100 Diaphragm Level Switch Type For powder is mechanical and has a small built-in synchronous motor.

Description

Description

Parker JD 100 Diaphragm Level Switch: Effortless Control is a high-performance mechanical sensor specifically engineered to detect the presence of bulk solids and powders within silos or hoppers. The core advantage of the Parker JD 100 Diaphragm Level Switch: Effortless Control lies in its adjustable sensitivity, which can be easily fine-tuned using an internal high-strength spring. Because of its simple and robust structure, mechanical failures are rare, and maintenance is incredibly straightforward, making it an ideal choice for demanding industrial environments.

Pre-cautions for Installations

  • Check the voltage of the power supply. The built-in small motor requires a predetermined voltage which cannot be adjusted.
  • Carefully review places to be selected for installation
    • The wings should not come into contact with parts such as steel piers in silos or tanks
    • Avoid places where powder drops. Upper limit switches should be installed vertically to have the device exert its performance.
  • When the switch has been installed outdoors, problems may easily occur in electric piping in particular. If the level switch is lower than the wiring duct as shown in the figure, rainwater many flow into the electric piping and into the main body of the level switch in rainy seasons. Therefore, please pay special attention to this matter.
  • The level switch is mechanical and has a small built-in synchronous motor(torque: 0.1-1kgf/cm). Therefore, please be careful so that no foreign matter or impurities would go into the level switch while being installed.
  • If pressure is applied to the diaphragm surface by powder in the silo or tank, the built-in micro-switch will operate due to the force. If there is no powder in the silo or tank, the switch will be automatically restored by the force of the built-in spring. When necessary, the internal spring’s force may be adjusted to adjust the sensitivity.
  • Caution ***Do not use this switch in use environments where the rubber diaphragm may be damaged.

In industrial facilities that handle bulk materials like grain, cement, or plastic pellets, choosing the right level sensor is the key to preventing costly overflows or system downtime. The Parker JD 100 Diaphragm Level Switch provides a mechanical solution that is both outstanding in durability and efficient in operation. This switch operates based on physical pressure; when the material inside the silo reaches the level of the diaphragm, the weight of the powder presses against the rubber surface, activating the internal micro-switch.

To ensure your Parker JD 100 Diaphragm Level Switch exerts its maximum performance and maintains a long service life, please follow these essential installation guidelines:

1. Power Supply Verification

Before connecting the device, always check the voltage of the power supply. The Parker JD 100 Diaphragm Level Switch features a built-in small synchronous motor with a torque range of 0.1 to 1cm. This motor requires a predetermined voltage that cannot be adjusted manually. Connecting to the wrong voltage will lead to immediate motor failure.

2. Strategic Placement

Carefully review the locations selected for installation. The internal wings and diaphragm should not come into contact with structural parts such as steel piers or internal bracing inside the silos or tanks. Contact with these structures can lead to false readings or mechanical damage.

3. Avoiding Material Impact

Avoid installing the switch directly in the path where powder drops from the top of the silo. The constant physical impact of falling material can wear out the diaphragm prematurely. For the best results, upper limit switches should be installed vertically to ensure the device performs at its peak.

4. Outdoor Protection and Piping

When the Parker JD 100 Diaphragm Level Switch is installed outdoors, electrical piping becomes a critical factor. If the level switch is mounted lower than the wiring duct, rainwater may flow along the cables, into the electric piping, and eventually into the main body of the switch. During rainy seasons, this can cause short circuits. Always use a “drip loop” or ensure the conduit enters from below the device.

5. Foreign Matter Prevention

Since this is a mechanical device with moving parts, you must be extremely careful to ensure that no foreign matter or impurities enter the housing during installation. Dust or grit inside the casing can interfere with the spring mechanism or the micro-switch, reducing accuracy.

Operational Logic and Safety

The working principle of the Parker JD 100 Diaphragm Level Switch is as reliable as it is simple. If pressure is applied to the diaphragm surface by the powder in the silo, the force triggers the micro-switch to signal a “Full” state. Once the powder level drops and the pressure is removed, the built-in spring automatically restores the switch to its original position. Critical Caution: Do not use this switch in environments where the chemical composition of the material or sharp objects may damage the rubber diaphragm. A punctured diaphragm will lead to total device failure.
