Leuze Sensor DMU330-3500.3/2CK-M12 Ultrasonic distance sensor

A high-performance M30-threaded ultrasonic sensor with a 3500 mm (3.5-meter) sensing range and a standard M12 connector. The “2CK” designation indicates a switching (digital) output—typically a Push-Pull configuration—integrated with IO-Link for advanced smart-factory communication.

Description

The DMU330 series uses Time-of-Flight (ToF) technology to measure the distance to a target regardless of its color, transparency, or surface gloss. Unlike the 6000mm version, the 3500mm model offers a tighter beam and faster response times, making it ideal for medium-sized tanks or large pallet detection where 6 meters would be overkill but 1 meter is insufficient.

Features

  • Medium-Long Reach: A 3.5-meter range allows for safe mounting away from moving parts or caustic environments.
  • IO-Link 1.1 Ready: Supports bidirectional communication for remote parameter setting, distance value streaming, and health diagnostics.
  • Push-Pull Switching Output: A universal output that can be wired as PNP or NPN, simplifying inventory and installation.
  • Material Independent: Reliably detects “difficult” targets like liquids, clear plastic, dark rubber, or multi-colored surfaces.
  • Integrated Temperature Compensation: Automatically adjusts the internal calculations for the speed of sound based on ambient air temperature, ensuring 1% accuracy.

Applications

  • IBC & Tote Level Monitoring: Providing “full” or “empty” signals for intermediate bulk containers.
  • Pallet Height & Presence: Detecting the arrival of pallets on wide conveyors or in automated storage/retrieval systems (ASRS).
  • Roll Diameter Monitoring: Sensing the size of large supply rolls (carpet, steel, or heavy paper) to trigger change-overs.
  • Collision Avoidance: Providing slow-down or stop signals for AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles) or mobile robot platforms.
  • Loop Control: Monitoring the depth of heavy material loops in metal or textile processing
