Gastec O2-206G Oxygen Sensor

A sub-miniature galvanic cell oxygen sensor optimized for compact analytical monitors. Weighing only 4g, it provides high-sensitivity detection in a specialized $\phi$15 x 14 mm form factor

Description

The O2-206G operates on the galvanic cell principle, functioning as a self-powered electrochemical battery. Oxygen diffuses through a high-selectivity membrane and is reduced at the cathode, generating a voltage directly proportional to the oxygen concentration (0.0–25.0%).

Due to its ultra-small mass and optimized membrane, the O2-206G is exceptionally responsive to rapid changes in oxygen levels. This makes it ideal for the GOT-110A-2, which is frequently used for personal safety and research applications where immediate detection of oxygen deficiency is critical.

Although, technology is always evolving, one demand on our products never changes: the demand for customer safety. Whenever we contribute to customer safety, we are presented with an opportunity to develop further.

GASTEC holds this corporate creed of safety and development in high esteem, as it strives to grow while always putting customer safety first.

Features

  • Ultra-Miniature Design: At just 4g, it allows for the design of “wear-and-forget” portable monitors that do not hinder worker movement.
  • Galvanic Cell Technology: Provides a self-generating signal; the sensor is active the moment it is exposed to air and requires no external power to sense oxygen.
  • Instant Readiness: Unlike electrolysis sensors, it has no warm-up time, allowing for immediate safety checks upon powering up the host monitor.
  • High Analytical Precision: Capable of detecting oxygen in 0.1% increments, fulfilling the strict requirements for environmental safety assessments.
  • Low Power Consumption: Engineered for energy efficiency, supporting the long battery life necessary for continuous 24-hour monitoring.

Applications

Precision Module Integration: The O2-206G is applied by seating it into the internal sensor receptacle of the GOT-110A-2 monitor.

  1. Installation: Carefully align the sensor pins with the socket on the device’s PCB and press firmly to ensure a sealed connection. Ensure the dust filter is in place.

  2. Thermal Equilibrium: While the sensor works instantly, allow the unit to sit in the target environment for 3 to 5 minutes after installation to ensure the electrolyte reaches the ambient temperature.

  3. 21% Air Calibration: Perform a “One-Touch” or manual air calibration in a clean, fresh-air environment (20.9 O_2). The digital display will synchronize with the sensor’s current voltage output.

  4. Maintenance: Check the calibration before each use. If the monitor triggers a “Sensor Error” or cannot be adjusted to read 20.9% in fresh air, the internal chemical capacity is exhausted and it must be replaced.
