Gastec GOC-100-2 Oxygen and Carbon Monoxide Detector

A pocket-sized, dual-gas digital monitor that provides real-time concentration readouts for $O_2$ (0–25%) and $CO$ (0–300 ppm). It features a rugged, explosion-proof design powered by a single AAA battery.

Description

The GOC-100-2 utilizes two distinct sensing technologies housed within a single chassis. It uses a galvanic cell for oxygen and a controlled potential electrolysis sensor (the CO-608E) for carbon monoxide.

The device is engineered for simplicity; with a large, backlit LCD, it displays both gas concentrations simultaneously. If levels breach the pre-set safety limits (typically 18% for O_2 and 50 ppm for CO), the unit triggers a triple-threat alarm consisting of a loud buzzer, flashing LEDs, and a strong vibration to ensure the user is alerted even in high-noise environments.

Although, technology is always evolving, one demand on our products never changes: the demand for customer safety. Whenever we contribute to customer safety, we are presented with an opportunity to develop further.

GASTEC holds this corporate creed of safety and development in high esteem, as it strives to grow while always putting customer safety first.

Features

  • Dual-Gas Monitoring: Eliminates the need to carry two separate devices for oxygen and carbon monoxide.
  • Ultra-Compact & Lightweight: At just 80g, it can be easily clipped to a pocket, belt, or helmet without causing fatigue.
  • Explosion-Proof Construction: Certified for use in hazardous locations, ensuring safety in potentially flammable atmospheres.
  • Long Battery Life: Operates for approximately 2,000 hours on a single AAA alkaline battery (under non-alarm conditions).
  • Data Logging: Capable of storing gas concentration data, allowing for post-shift analysis of environmental exposure.
  • Peak & Trend Recording: Displays the highest $CO$ reading and lowest $O_2$ reading encountered during the current session.

Applications

Personal Safety Monitoring: The GOC-100-2 is applied by clipping it to the user’s “breathing zone” (collar or chest pocket) before entering a work area.

  1. Daily Start-up: Turn the unit on in a clean, fresh-air environment. The device will perform a self-check of the sensors and battery.

  2. Auto-Zero Calibration: Perform the “One-Touch” air calibration. This sets the $O_2$ to 20.9% and the $CO$ to 0 ppm based on the ambient atmosphere.

  3. Continuous Wear: Keep the device powered on throughout the shift. If an alarm triggers, immediately evacuate to a well-ventilated area.

  4. Sensor Maintenance: When the sensors reach their end-of-life (indicated by a “Sensor Error” or failed calibration), replace the oxygen cell or the CO-608E electrolysis sensor as needed.
