Gast 8AM-ARV-71 Air Motor

A reversible, 5.2 HP (3.9 kW) rotary vane air motor featuring an 8-vane design and an IEC #72 (D90) metric flange mount. It is a rugged, non-electrical power source designed for variable speed applications in hazardous or high-temperature areas.

Description

The 8AM-ARV-71 is the metric-spec variant of the 8AM family, utilizing 1/2″ BSP ports and an IEC D90 flange. The standout feature of this specific model is its 8-vane configuration. While 4-vane motors are standard, the 8-vane design provides better “inching” control, smoother low-speed operation, and more consistent torque output because there are more vanes capturing the air pressure at any given moment.

Features

  • 8-Vane Performance: Offers superior starting torque and smoother rotation at low RPM compared to 4-vane models.
  • IEC #72 D90 Mount: Allows for easy integration with metric gearboxes and machinery common in Europe and Asia.
  • Explosion Proof (ATEX): Inherently safe for Group II, Cat 2 environments (Gas & Dust) because it produces no electrical sparks.
  • Variable Speed & Torque: Speed can be adjusted from 300 to 2,500 RPM simply by regulating the air pressure.
  • Reversible Rotation: Can be toggled between clockwise and counter-clockwise instantly using a 4-way control valve.
  • Stall-Proof: Can be held in a stalled condition under load indefinitely without overheating or electrical failure.
