Unlike larger industrial sensors, the LTZ 400 features a compact, streamlined design specifically intended for integration into air-conditioned control cabinets, electronic racks, and small-bore ventilation ducts. The sensor utilizes the calorimetric (thermal) principle, measuring the cooling effect of the air stream on a heated sensor element. This solid-state technology is vastly superior to mechanical “wind-vane” switches because it has no moving parts. This means it is immune to the bearing failures, dust accumulation, and mechanical fatigue that often lead to false alarms or sensor failure in traditional systems.
