The EGE Elektronik LC 518 GA-Ex22 is the authoritative solution for air flow supervision in areas where combustible dust poses a risk. Certified to ATEX Category 3D, this sensor is engineered for Zone 22 applications, allowing for safe installation in environments like flour mills, woodworking shops, and plastic processing plants without the complexity of intrinsically safe barriers. Unlike mechanical flow switches, the LC 518 GA-Ex22 is a thermal (calorimetric) monitor. It functions by measuring the cooling effect of the moving air on a heated sensor tip. This “no-moving-parts” design is critical in dusty environments, as it prevents the clogging, jamming, or mechanical wear common with vane-style anemometers.
