FMG – Flow Meter Group is an engineering/manufacturing company specializing in the development and production of energy and gas measurement systems. Located in the Netherlands, FMG produces a wide range of rotary and turbine gas meters, volume conversion devices, master meters and calibration benches. About FMG – Flow Meter Group

FMG offers a large variety of flow meters ranging from very small (100 dm3/h) up to very large (40.000 m3/h) flow rates and in pressures from atmospheric to 100 bar (1440 psi). All FMG meters comply with international safety and metrological standards. Meters designated for fiscal use are tested, certified and approved by the Netherlands Metrological Institute NMi.

FMG has added extra features to the meters in terms of increased accuracy, protection from manipulation, increased rangeability and superior performance in order to go beyond the minimum requirements of the existing standards.

Turbine Gas Meter

FMT-Lx Turbine Gas Meter

The FMT-Lx series turbine meter is a robust meter, designed to perform on the highest level of accuracy. The meters comply with all international standards and are approved for custody transfer. The actual flow sensor, an exchangeable cartridge, has a build-in multi stage flow conditioner enabling the meter to be installed without any straight in- and outlet sections. All tested and proved according perturbation test as per international standards.

The cartridge can be pre-calibrated, under both low and high pressure conditions, then exchanged on-site. The cartridge is supported in O-rings and isolated from the body, hence unaffected by any influences of the housing. The short length cartridge enables the use of larger sized cartridges than the size of the meter body. The approved maximum capacities of these kind of meters are extremely high and similar to the capacities of ultrasonic meters.

To reduce transportation cost, optimize the corrosion protection and improve safety in handling, the FMT-Lx series of turbine meters up to 6’’ (DN150) are also available with low weight aluminum meter bodies.

FMT-Dc Turbine Gas Meter

The FMT-Dc series turbine meter is a unique meter, designed to perform on the highest level of accuracy. The meters comply with all international standards and are approved for custody transfer. The actual flow sensor, TWO cartridges which are exchangable with conventional cartridges used in other turbine meter series, can monitor all kinds of flow effects and monitor the results if connected to flow computer devices. Since these flow computer can analyze any effect, the FMT-Dc is also able to monitor itself and detect any kinds of failures. For example bearing failures, blade failures of dirt in the meter.

When in use, the two independent turbine wheels are not subjected simultaneously to the same flow effects. This results in minimal differences between the two turbine wheels, which are being detected and diagnosed by the flow computer in a split second. This technique allows for a significant reduction of the uncertainty margin. Also, it opens new possibilities for the future, e.g. remote calibration could be a next step in successfully reducing the measurement uncertainty.

In order to fully exploit the possibilities of two turbine wheels, it has to be established that both turbine wheels operate independently and that occurring influences do not have the same effect at the same time on both turbine wheels.

FMT-S Turbine Gas Meter

The FMT-S turbine meters are robust and designed to perform on the highest level of accuracy. Unique for these meters is the fact they comply with all international standards and are approved for custody transfer even with smallest possible installation length.

The FMG series of rotary gas meters are designed to meet the highest demands of reliable and accurate measurement of gas flow. The meters are MID approved and fully comply with EN12480 and OIML R137. The compact exchangeable aluminium cartridge allows local repair and on-site cleaning. The robust design of the casing and the cartridge make the meter less sensitive to installation stresses caused by the connecting piping. A significant amount of misalignment of the connecting piping/flanges can be tolerated by the meter without affecting the meter performance by jamming the impellers.

The FMG series of rotary gas meters are designed to meet the highest demands of reliable and accurate measurement of gas flow. The meters are MID approved and fully comply with EN12480 and OIML R137. The compact exchangeable aluminium cartridge allows local repair and on-site cleaning. The robust design of the casing and the cartridge make the meter less sensitive to installation stresses caused by the connecting piping. A significant amount of misalignment of the connecting piping/flanges can be tolerated by the meter without affecting the meter performance by jamming the impellers.

FMR Rotary Gas Meter

The aluminium casing of the FMR (body and front plate) is designed for working pressures up to 20 barg with a safety factor of 4. The square impellers and the improved position of the main bearings and shafts, make the meter less sensitive to overload and pressure shocks. The aluminum index and the protection of the LF pulsers with the associated magnets, make the meter less sensitive for manipulation by externally applied magnets or other external forces. Tampering of meters with strong neodymium magnets is one of the major concerns of utility companies, as this kind of manipulation is very difficult to detect or prove. In order to be prepared for the “smart grid”, the index can also be equipped with an intelligent encoder.

The unique proprietary oiling system, where the oil is distributed directly to the timing gears by means of a disc, eliminates oil loss at high rotor speeds and will lubricate the timing gears at very low loads. All plugs and oil sight glasses are in the front of the meter, allowing the meter to be installed in very compact installations.
