Gastec CO608E Carbon Monoxide Sensor

A lightweight controlled potential electrolysis $CO$ sensor optimized for simultaneous dual-gas detection. It is a critical component for the GOC-100-2, enabling accurate $CO$ measurements in a device that weighs only 80g.

Description

The CO-608E operates on the electrolytic oxidation principle. Carbon Monoxide gas enters the sensor and reacts at a working electrode maintained at a constant electrical potential. This reaction generates a current directly proportional to the gas concentration, which the GOC-100-2 translates into a digital readout.

This sensor is specifically tuned for the 0 to 300 ppm range, with an enhanced range capability that allows it to display readings up to 999 ppm. Its design emphasizes low power consumption, supporting the long operational life of battery-powered handheld units

GASTEC

Although, technology is always evolving, one demand on our products never changes: the demand for customer safety. Whenever we contribute to customer safety, we are presented with an opportunity to develop further.

GASTEC holds this corporate creed of safety and development in high esteem, as it strives to grow while always putting customer safety first.

Features

  • Controlled Potential Electrolysis: Provides high sensitivity and a stable baseline, ensuring accurate readings even in environments with fluctuating conditions.
  • Simultaneous Monitoring Support: Engineered to work without electrical interference alongside oxygen sensors (like the O2-208G) within the same device.
  • High Resolution: Capable of detecting $CO$ in 1 ppm increments, providing the precision needed for industrial safety compliance.
  • Linear Response: Offers a predictable signal across its entire measurement range, simplifying the calibration process for the host monitor.
  • Low Power Consumption: Designed to maximize the battery life of the GOC-100-2, which typically operates on a single AAA battery.

Applications

  1. Installation: Open the detector housing and securely seat the sensor into the multi-pin socket, ensuring proper alignment with the internal PCB.
  2. Polarization: After installation, the monitor must be powered on for a polarization period of at least 2 to 4 hours (or as specified by the device manual) to allow the electrochemical cell to stabilize.
  3. Calibration: Perform an “Auto Zero” adjustment in fresh, clean air. Follow this with a span calibration using a CK-2 or CK-10 calibration kit to ensure the digital output matches the certified gas concentration.
