Wenglor P1PS101 Through Beam Sensor

The through-beam sensor works with red light as well as a transmitter and a receiver. Thanks to their high light intensity, the sensor provides a high degree of operational reliability even with interferences like steam, fog or dust. The transmitter can be deactivated using test input in order to test the functionality of the through-beam sensor. The IO-Link interface can be used to configure the sensor (PNP/NPN, NC/NO, switching distance), as well as for reading out switching statuses and signal values.

Applications

Presence Check of Pallets in the Refrigerated High-Bay Warehouse with Through-Beam Sensors

In refrigerated logistics centers, the presence of pallets before and after each transfer position must be known in order to secure material flow between the conveyor line and the high-bay warehouse. Through-beam sensors that function according to the transmitter-receiver principle are attached to the conveyor line for this purpose. While solutions with reflectors do not offer process reliability due to contamination, the through-beam sensors, which can be configured via IO-Link, switch reliably. They do not require a reflector and have a higher power reserve thanks to the through-beam principle – even at temperatures down to –40 °C.

Through-Beam Sensors

Through-beam sensors detect and count small parts, detect the edges of objects and monitor passages in systems. The emitter and receiver are housed in separate housings according to the through-beam mode. The sensor switches as soon as an object interrupts the laser light, red light or infrared light.
